Refer to the list of the ghadda fielders (gaping ditches) we carry in our Indian Cricket Team, mentioned in my previous blog (dated 5 Dec 2025), on the 2nd ODI between India and SA. After today’s T20I (the second one in the current series), some more have made it to the dubious list. And as we’ve seen before, most of these gentlemen are tall, big guys – Shubman Gill, Shivam Dubey, and not to forget the ever sparkling Arshdeep Singh who’s fast becoming a veteran in this niche (ditch). There literally is a case where the runs gifted by even just one or two of these to the visitors, covers the number of runs we lost by.
15 wides bowled by our international level pros! Add to these the runs scored off the extra balls bowled, then add the less-than-100% fielding effort put in by the likes of Shubman Gill (due to his recent neck injury). Even though his delicate neck condition prevents him putting in a 100% effort, to avoid further injury to his neck, but then he’s also not in good batting form currently. That makes him deadweight in the team. He needs to be rested, treated, cured, so he can bounce back with a bang when he’s ready again.
Till then we don’t need to sacrifice matches due to generous gestures by the game’s administrators that no one is authorized to sanction.
