About Me
My poetry and blogs are published in periodicals, English dailies and blog sites across the country. My short stories have been published by Woman’s Era, a national monthly magazine now, which used to be a fortnightly earlier, and The Hitavada’s weekly children’s magazine Twinkle Star. I am a graduate in Commerce with a modest diploma in Business Management. Having experienced several employments in varied fields, my last job was at a commercial bank.
Before that, being eager to ‘experience the real world’ and its many facets, I plunged into field work early. I had a deep fascination for sales. Starting at the age of 12, I began moving around on a bicycle with a basket of my wares fixed to the handlebar. I would peddle protein biscuits and supplements door to door, wildly celebrating each successful sale. It was, after all, a notable achievement in the real, big world. Later on, along with my studies, I graduated to selling insurance.
When I took up photography at a semi-professional level, my photographs of urban wildlife, pets, birds, and sports personalities, were published in national and local publications. I was also always captivated with the joy of writing since an early age, but was able to find time to learn and practice the craft only after I voluntarily retired from my full-time bank job.
Another craft that caught my fancy after my retirement was woodworking. I learned almost all I know about this immensely satisfying hobby from YouTube. It was truly a very engaging and fulfilling experience. Picking up these tips and techniques from YouTube tutorials, I gradually built up a minor stockpile of wondrous tools. With these I would build some useful items around the house.
A love of music and a good ear for it has been part of my DNA my entire life. I love every kind of music. I use the term ‘kind of music’ as I still don’t care about identifying the genre of the tunes and songs I love and never tire of listening to. I gave up trying to educate myself on the technicalities of music genres as it would impede my going straight to listening and enjoying my favorite tracks. When one loves a piece of music, it hardly matters what its genre name might be. Just sway with it, bask in it, shut your eyes and let it lift you.
My Twitter and Instagram handles are, both, @sanjaykapur59. As I state in my bio, I love music, most animals, and some ‘hoomans’.
I live with my family in India’s “Orange City”, Nagpur.
